About this species:
Barrenwort (Epimedium), also known as Bishop’s Hat or Fairy Wings, is a versatile perennial plant prized for its delicate, heart-shaped leaves and graceful, starlike flowers. Native to Asia and the Mediterranean, it thrives in shady gardens and woodland settings, making it an excellen groundcover. The foliage often emerges in bronze or red hues in spring, maturing to lush green before turning golden in fall.
Barrenwort is drought tolerant and deer resistant with species like Epimedium x versicolor adding texture and charm to gardens. It is known for its toughness and low-maintenance nature.
